Barber Hits Provo Mark, Zbinovec Breaks Record

(FINDLAY, Ohio) - Kaitlyn Barber (Fr., Toledo, OH/Whitmer) had the best afternoon for the Cavaliers at the Findlay Open today as she hit the NCAA provisional mark in the pole vault. Barber hit the mark of 3.55 meters. She cleared the height in her first attempt, but could not clear 3.7 meters to finish in second place. She was the top placer of competitors representing a college or university.

Elsewhere in action, Anne Wise (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.27. She finished second behind two Findlay runners.

Kendra Zbinovec (So., Lyndhurst, OH/NDCL) also had a notable result as she broke the school record in the weight throw. After two fouls, she set the new mark with a throw of 14.51 meters, or 47 feet, 7.25 inches. The old mark was 47 feet, 1.5 inches set by Kendra Britzman in 2003.

The Cavaliers will return to action next week in the NCAA Division II Team Challenge. The two-day event starts Friday, Feb. 6, and will be held at the Spire Institute in Geneva.
