Women's Distance Medley Sets New Record

(GENEVA, Ohio) -  The women's track and field team had a strong start to the NCAA Division II Team meet at the SPIRE complex as the distance medley relay team finished second place and set a new school record in the process.

Margaret Kroll (Fr., Waterford, OH/HS), Mikayla Dearing (So., Navarre, OH/Perry), Anne Wise (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo), and Sarah Berger (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) made up the foursome that set the new mark. They easily won the eight points for second place by almost nine seconds. Winston Salem State's team won the event in 12:13.50.

In the 5,000 meter run, the Cavs had a couple of place winners with Jill Bresnahan (So., Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph) in sixth and Alyssa Anderson right behind her in seventh. Bresnahan earned three points with a time of 19:56.24 while Anderson crossed at 20:03.41 for one point.

The last points earned for the Cavaliers were in the weight throw. Kendra Zbinovec (So., Lyndhurst, OH/NDCL) picked up six points with a third place finish. Her best throw was 14.43 meters on her third attempt. Shannon Montgomery (Jr., Newton Falls, OH/HS) added two points with a seventh place finish. Her best throw was 12.99 meters which came on her final attempt.

The event will resume tomorrow at SPIRE with events starting at 10 a.m.
