The women's track and field team had a busy day today as they had split squads at both the Westminster Invitational and the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell.
Katie Mokros (Fr., Massillon, OH/Central Catholic) broke her tied-school record mark in the 100 meter dash and now holds the mark all by herself. She finished second in the Westminster Invitational with a time of 12.31. Mokros wasn't finished as she also had a second place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.44.
Also at Westminster, Alyssa Anderson (Jr., Canfield, OH/Ursuline) finished third in the 10K with a time of 41:53.77. The 4x100 meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 51.76. Dominique Foley, Margaret Liberatore (So., Concord, OH/Riverside), Karley Dougherty (Fr., Clinton, OH/Manchester), and Mikayla Dearing (So., Navarre, OH/Perry) comprised the quartet.
Shannon Montgomery (Jr., Newton Falls, OH/HS), Kendra Britzman (Jr., Canton, OH/South) and Kenda Zbinovec (So., Lyndhurst, OH/NDCL) placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the hammer throw for the Westminster Invitational. Montgomery set a new school record with a throw of 45.28 meters. Britzman followed with a personal record of her own at 43.63 meters. Zbinovec threw for a distance of 43.14 meters.
Montgomery and Zbinovec went on to win a pair of events. Montgomery took the discus event with a throw of 40.65 meters, .18 meters better than her closest competitor. Zbinovec proceeded to go out and win the shot put. Her best throw of 12.94 meters beet her seeded distance by .72 meters.
Overall, the Cavaliers finished third out of 22 teams. Walsh registered 79 points and were nine shy of second place Grove City. Malone finished first with 108 points.
