(ASHLAND, Ohio) – Walsh participated in the Alumni Open hosted by Ashland University for its last big meet before the GLIAC Championships next week.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team finished second with a time of 48.72. The quartet was made up of Meredith Fennell (Fr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest), Mikayla Dearing (So., Navarre, OH/Perry), Katie Mokros (Fr., Massillon, OH/Central Catholic), and Hannah Luke (Fr., Massillon, OH/Perry).
Shannon Montgomery (Jr., Newton Falls, OH/HS) had another strong performance in the discus with a second place finish. Her best throw was 43.4 meters to beat out all other Division II competition and even placed ahead of some participants from Division I schools.
Kendra Zbinovec (So., Lyndhurst, OH/NDCL) wasn't too far behind Montgomery as she finished seventh. Zbinovec's best throw was 38.79 meters.
Elsewhere in competition, Karley Dougherty (Fr., Clinton, OH/Manchester) placed seventh in the javelin with a distance of 31.5 meters. Fennell also placed eighth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.04.
The Cavaliers now gear up for the GLIAC Championships at Hillsdale this Wednesday and Thursday.
