(ATHENS, Ohio) – Walsh women's track and field team placed sixth out of 14 teams at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio University on a snowy Saturday. The women's team finished with 33 points. Host Ohio University cruised to the team win with 244 points. The Cavaliers placed in eight different events on the day.
On the track, Katie Mokros turned in a pair of fourth place finishes in the sprints. She did so in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.74 and followed up in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.68. Lauren Bower finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.56.
Most of the success on the day came in field events for the Cavaliers. Evan Haney placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters. Kendra Zbinovec was strong in the shot put and turned in a fifth place finish with a throw of 13.39 meters. Karley Dougherty finished seventh in the javelin with a distance of 33.28 meters. Shannon Montgomery took eighth in the discus with a distance of 40.58 meters.
The Cavaliers will return to action tomorrow close to home as they make the short trek over to Mount Union for the John Homon Open.
