Berger Finishes First In Steeplechase at Ohio State

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – All-American Sarah Berger set another school record with a first place finish in the steeplechase at the Jesse Owens Track Classic hosted by Ohio State University. The sophomore completed the 3,000 meter race with a time of 10:30.7 to set the new mark.

The time currently stands as the 10th-best in all of Division II and is just 3.55 seconds from the automatic qualification time for the national championships.

She wasn't the only Cavalier in action as Kendra Zbinovec, Karley Dougherty, Meredith Fennell, and Katie Morkros all qualified to compete at Ohio State this weekend.

Zbinovec placed third in the shot put with a throw of 13.97 meters. She currently has the 22nd-best throw in the nation.

Dougherty was 14th javelin with a throw of 35.37. Fennell finished 25th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.72. Only one other Division II athlete had a better time. Mokros came in 30th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.32.

The Cavaliers will return to action this Friday in the Alumni Invitational at Ashland.
