Berger Finishes National Runner-Up In 1,500 Meter

(BRADENTON, Fla.) – Sarah Berger became Walsh's second two-time All-American after she finished runner-up in the 1,500 meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships Saturday.

The super sophomore completed the race in 4:22.09 and was edged out by Hillsdale's Olympic Trial qualifier Emily Oren who finished with a time of 4:20.61.

Berger joins former Cavalier Stephanie Foster as the only two-time All-Americans since Walsh joined NCAA Division II. Berger earned her first All-American First Team honor after she finished fourth at the indoor championships in the mile. Foster earned the status in the pole vault at the indoor and outdoor championships two years ago.

GLIAC participants took three of the top eight placements and four of the top 12 as Grand Valley State's Gina Patterson and Amy Creutz finished eighth and 10th, respectively.

The second place finish gave Walsh eight points in the team standings. It put them in a tie for 20th after 11 events.
