(NEW ORLEANS) – After a spectacular fourth-place performance at the GLIAC Indoor Championships last weekend, the Walsh women's track & field team moved up four spots to No. 16 in the national rankings. It's the fourth consecutive week the Cavaliers have been ranked in the top 25, and highest ranking ever since joining the NCAA.
Pittsburg State is the new No. 1 team in the nation after jumping up two spots from No. 3 last week. Grand Valley is No. 2 and Adams State is No. 3.
The Cavaliers are one of five GLIAC teams ranked in the top 25, the most of any conference. Ashland, Hillsdale, and Findlay are also ranked in a cluster with the Cavs to fill out the 15th, 17th, and 18th spots, respectively.
Regionally, Walsh is ranked No. 6. Earlier this week, six Cavaliers were named to the USTFCCCA 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor All-Region Team.
Walsh will conclude the indoor season next week in Alabama as it takes part in the national championships.
