(RALEIGH, N.C.) – Fresh off a ninth place finish at the indoor national championships, the Walsh women track & field team is ready for the outdoor season. Already the Cavaliers are guaranteed to be represented at the outdoor national championships.
With a second place finish in the 1,500 meter run at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State, four-time All-American Sarah Berger will look to make that a five-time All-American. Not only did her time of 4:19.79 set a new school record by four seconds, but it cleared the automatic mark for the national championships.
In a field of 108 runners from mostly Division I schools, Berger finished behind only Dartmouth's Helen Schlachtehna who finished the race in 4:18.25. Berger easily took second by more than two seconds in the eighth and final heat of the event.
The Cavaliers will return to action tomorrow at Muskingum.
