Women's Track & Field Win Three Events At Slippery Rock

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – Despite threatening weather and constant delays, the Walsh track & field took part in the Slippery Rock Open with many athletes performing well.

On the women's side, the field events produced three winners. All-American Kaitlyn Barber easily won the pole vault with a height of 3.81 meters. Kendra Zbinovec was first in the shot put with a throw of 13.57 meters. She went on to finished second in the discus with a throw of 42.13 meters. Payton Breehl was right behind her at 37.32 meters.

Breehl proceeded to win the hammer throw with a throw of 48.47 meters. Annie Fahey was third at 44.33 meters, and Malia Turley was fourth at 42.33 meters.

Katherine Schierloh was second in the high jump with a height of 1.53 meters. Hannah Grace was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.93 meters.

Katie Mokros finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.11. In the 400 meter dash, Jetaiya Smith and Grier Cowles finished third and fourth with times of 59.51 and 59.85, respectively.

Bre Bakan finished fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.10. The women's relay teams did well with third place finishes in both events. The 4x100 team clocked in at 47.90, while the 4x400 team finished with a time of 4:08.44.

The Cavaleirs aren't done for the weekend as they will be back in action the next two days at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Invitational.
