(ASHLAND, Ohio) – The Walsh track & field team competed in Ashland's Alumni Open with select athletes participating in Hillsdale's Gina Relays.
At Hillsdale, All-Americans Sarah Berger and Andra Lehotay both ran in the 1,500 meter run. Berger finished fifth in a field loaded with Division I and unattached talent. She completed the run in 4:22.71. Lehotay finished second in her heat and 10th overall with a time of 4:25.67.
At Ashland, Meredith Fennell turned in a solid performance in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.54 and was the top non-Division I athlete in the field.
All-American Jetaiya Smith finished third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.58 as the top Division II athlete.
In the field events, Morrisa Mallory finished second in the shot put with a throw of 13.78 meters as the top Division II athlete. All-American Kaitlyn Barber cleared 3.86 in the pole vault to finish sixth in the event. She was second amongst Division II competitors.
Dominique Foley finished eighth in the high jump as she cleared 1.57 meters. Danielle Buzzacco was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 32.51 meters. Alexandra Rodgers was sixth in the same event with a throw of 31 meters.
In the invitational section of the discus, Kendra Zbinovec was fifth with a throw of 34.45 meters.
The Cavaliers will now focus on the GLIAC Championships which will start this Thursday and continue through Saturdy.
