(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh volleyball team climbed back to .500 with a dominating three-set win over visiting Davis & Elkins in G-MAC East Division action Friday evening. The Cavaliers (6-6, 3-1) took down the Senators (4-6, 1-3) by scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-23.
The two teams matched up well early on as neither team could put together a rally of three consecutive points until the Cavaliers pulled the triple play to take a 14-13 lead. After both squads battled to 16-16, Walsh did it again to make the score 19-16 to create some separation and force the Senators to call a timeout. The Cavs came out and added two more points en route to the seven-point win.
The Maroon and Gold jumped out of the gate at the start of set two to take a 9-5 lead and didn't let Davis & Elkins get within two points the rest of the way. Set three played closer and similar to the first throughout the game, but Walsh staved off a fourth set and preserved the sweep as Paola Ferrario closed the game with a pair of kills.
Lauren Loucks led the match with 13 kills followed by Ferrario with 10. Both also reached double figures in digs with 11 and were joined by Amanda Adoranti in that department with another 11. Olivia Zanolli set up the attack with 38 assists.
Kaitlyn Lacour led the Senators with 11 kills.
The Cavs will be back in action tomorrow against fellow Mountain State rival Alderson Broaddus. Walsh will square off with the Battlers at 2 p.m.
