(INDIANAPOLIS) – Olivia Zanolli has been named this week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference East Division Player of the Week giving a Walsh player the honor for a second week in a row. Zanolli helped the Cavaliers upset nationally ranked No. 10 Rockhurst in four games on Friday in the Midwest Region Crossover.
Zanolli joines outside hitter Lauren Loucks who was named Player of the Week last week in addition to once prior this season.
The senior setter helped guide the offensive attack that hit .215 against the Hawks in the upset. Zanolli averaged 10.5 assists per game and totaled 48 across the match. Defensively she added 1.4 digs per set and blocked two Rockhurst attacks in the match. In her other two matches she added 26 assists against another nationally ranked program in No. 19 Lewis and 31 more against former conference rival Saginaw Valley State.
Zanolli is currently third in the G-MAC in assists per set with 10.48 a game this season.
The Cavaliers continue their trek of eight consecutive matches on the road with a trip to the Mountain State this week. The Maroon and Gold will first battle Alderson Broaddus on Friday with a 6 p.m. start in Philippi.
