NORTH CANTON, Ohio - After the Cavaliers won the 2018 G-MAC East Division title last season, the Jayme Plummer era begins with in just 24 days with the Walsh Cavaliers volleyball program. With camp just days away, the preseason Great Midwest Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour was released on Tuesday (August 13) morning.
The Cavaliers open the 2019 season as the fourth best team in the conference with 107 points. This year, the idea of divisions was erased and all 13 teams will compete for one regular season crown.
Walsh finished the 2018 season with a 19-14 record, including a 14-5 conference mark and an East Division crown. The Cavaliers made their second straight appearance in the G-MAC Tournament as they made it to the Semifinals for the second straight season.
Coach Plummer embarks on his first season with the Cavaliers after spending four seasons at Ursuline College. He will have 11 returners that played last year and seven of them will be upperclassmen.
The team will open the 2019 season at the Shippensburg Tournament on September 6th against the Kutztown Golden Bears. The home and conference opener will be on Friday, September 27th against Ohio Dominican.
