Hallie Schroeder Named Defensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - After the Cavaliers opened the 2019 season 2-1 at the Shippensburg Raider Classic over the weekend, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference named Walsh outside hitter Hallie Schroeder Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Sept. 9).

The junior totaled 62 digs in 12 sets played this weekend, averaging 5.17 digs per set. She leads all players in the conference through the first weekend of the season. On offense, she added 36 kills in two double-doubles, ranking eighth in the conference. 

Against Kutztown in the opening match, Schroeder had a double-double with ten kills and 16 digs. In a 3-0 sweep of Slippery Rock, the Avon, Ohio native had nine kills and a team-high 18 digs. Walsh closed out the weekend with a 3-2 loss to Shippensburg, where Schroeder had 17 kills and a game-high 28 digs. 

Walsh will play at the Flagler Classic this weekend in St. Augustine, Florida.
