D2/NAIA All-Ohio Title Belongs to Women's Cross Country

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - For the second straight week, the #13 Walsh Cavaliers women's cross country took home a D2 title as they won the D2/NAIA title at the All-Ohio Championships 6K on Saturday (Sept. 28) at Cedarville.

Walsh finished third overall in a meet with schools from Divisions I, II, III and NAIA. The Cavaliers placed five runners in the overall top 30 and top 16 in the D2/NAIA race. 

Bre Bakan, the reigning G-MAC Athlete of the Week, placed tenth overall (fourth in D2/NAIA) on a final time of 22:37.2. Alexa Leppelmeier finished right behind Bakan, two seconds later in 11th place (fifth in D2/NAIA). Claire Robertson crossed the line in 21st overall (eighth in D2/NAIA) with a time of 23:01.7. The fourth finisher for Walsh was Karissa Sonnebarger as she was 24th overall (11th in the division), five seconds behind Robertson. Andra Lehotay capped the Walsh scorers in 27th place (12th in D2/NAIA) as she ran a time of 23:15.1. 

In the open race, Walsh finished 2nd with two runners inside the top ten. Bailey Roberts was fifth after a 24:19.8 run and Iris Menegay finished tenth on a time of 24:28.5. 

The Cavaliers will compete after a two-week layoff at the Conference Crossover at Lewis University on October 12th.
