NORTH CANTON, OH: Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Director, Christina Paone has announced the hiring of Andrew Martin as Head Coach for Walsh Men's Rugby. Andrew is familiar to the Walsh Men's Rugby program as he served as an Assistant Coach last season.
Outside of many years of coaching rugby, Andrew played rugby on the professional level all across the world.
"I'm incredibly honored and excited to lead the Walsh University Men's Rugby program. Growing up in South Africa, I was immersed in the rugby community from a young age. Rugby wasn't just a sport—it was a way of life that taught me discipline, resilience, respect, and the importance of being part of something bigger than yourself. I know firsthand the impact this game can have because it helped shape the person I am today.
My goal is to build a program rooted in hard work, accountability, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to one another. I want our Student-Athletes to compete with passion, represent Walsh with pride, and embrace a culture where they are challenged to become better players, better teammates, and better men.
We're going to build a program that values relationships, embraces a relentless work ethic, and strives for excellence every day. I want our alumni, students, and the entire Walsh community to be proud of what we create together. I'm grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to get to work."
