Samantha Wentz returned to Walsh University, as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, in September of 2025. She brings her experience as a former Cavalier Volleyball player as well as a proven track record of developing high-performing Student-Athletes. A four-year starter and two-year captain on the Walsh Volleyball team, Wentz is excited to rejoin the Cavalier community and help athletes grow both athletically and personally while reaching their full potential.
Before returning to Walsh, Wentz served as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Perkins High School, where she led programming for over 500 athletes across 30 teams from grades 7–12. She also worked with Legacy Performance Baseball Academy in St. Louis, Archbishop Hoban High School, and Canton McKinley High School, gaining experience training athletes across multiple sports and levels. In addition to her coaching career, Wentz spent three seasons as Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Perkins High School.
Wentz earned her Master of Science in Sport Performance Coaching from Setanta College and graduated from Walsh University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology.
She holds multiple professional certifications, including:
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) – NSCA
- USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach (USAW-L1) – USAW
- High School Strength Coach Certification (HSSCC) – NHSSCA
- CPR/First Aid Certified
With a coaching philosophy rooted in developing the functional, holistic athlete, Coach Wentz emphasizes injury prevention, strength development, and performance optimization through evidence-based, periodized programming. She is committed to fostering a family-oriented, collaborative environment—working alongside fellow strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and sport coaches to give Cavalier athletes the best training and collegiate experience possible.
