Cavs Set Mark in Rout of Fisher

(BOSTON) - Walsh (12-1, 8-0) set a school record for goals in a single game, and margin of victory, in a 15-0 shutout of Fisher College in an American Mideast Conference game today. The win was the 11th straight for the Cavs, their longest winning streak since 1993 when they won 12 straight.

George Moga (Sr., 5-10, Akron, OH/Springfield) started the scoring in the 14th minute when he was assisted by Ben Truax (Sr., 6-1, Mansfield, OH/St. Peters). It was the first goal of the season for Moga and the first of three on the afternoon. His second goal came two minutes later as he crossed it in, but a Fisher defender inadvertently headed the ball into his own net. Nathaniel Milhoan (Sr., 5-11, Hartville, OH/Lake) scored the third goal in the 19th minute on an assist from Chad Flath (Sr., 5-10, Wadsworth, OH/HS). Moga scored his hat trick goal shortly after in the 21st minute after heading in a corner kick from Adam Greenwood (Jr., 5-11, Blackpool, England/Lytham St. Annes).

Truax added to his all-time career goals record with his 15th goal of the year a few minutes later with Greenwood recording another assist. Truax then assisted Flath for his first goal of the year before Truax extended his record again on an assist from Flath in the 28th minute. Milhoan made the score 8-0 when he took a shot that was deflected in by Fisher to close out scoring in the first half.

The second half was more of the same for Walsh. Tim Cavanaugh (Sr., 5-11, Wadsworth, OH/HS/Mt. Union) put the score at 9-0 in the 51st minute when Jarod Weaver (Sr., 5-10, Tipp City, OH/Tippecanoe) sent in a looping cross from the right side of the field. Chad Dickerhoof (Jr., 6-0, Alliance, OH/Marlington) scored the next two goals with both of them assisted by Matt Bly (Jr., 5-10, Bellbrook, OH/HS).

Nate Rech (Sr., 6-0, Lordstown, OH/HS), who started the game and played the first half in goal, saw some time in the field and made it count with a goal in the 64th minute that was also assisted by Bly. The duo paired up again to make the score 13-0, this time with Bly scoring the goal and Rech getting the assist. Rech also assisted the following goal scored by Marc Julian (So., 5-11, Canton, OH/GlenOak) to make the score 14-0. The final score of the game came in the 78th minute when Chris Lynch (So., 6-2, Bellbrook, OH/HS) scored on an assist from Derrick Gullen (Sr., 5-10, Steubenville, OH/HS).

The Cavs' defense limited Fisher to only one shot that was not on goal.

Walsh plays at home against Point Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m. after playing five straight games on the road. If the Cavaliers win their match against the Pioneers or the following game against Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, they will clinch the AMC championship.
