Truax Scores Pair in 3-0 Win vs. Ashland

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Ben Truax (Sr., 6-1, Mansfield, OH/St. Peters) scored a pair of goals in leading the Cavaliers to a 3-0 victory over visiting Ashland University. The win improves Walsh's record to 4-1, while the Eagles fall to 2-4-1. All four of the Cavs' victories have been shutouts.

Truax scored his first goal in the middle of the box off of a header by Chris Lynch (So., 6-2, Bellbrook, OH/HS) thrown in by Nathaniel Milhoan (Sr., 5-11, Hartville, OH/Lake). The second came late in the game and provided some much needed insurance as Ashland added offensive pressure. Ben Latimer (Sr., 5-11, Sunbury, OH/Big Walnut) passed the ball up to a breaking Truax who put the ball passed the goalkeeper on a one-on-one opportunity in the 81st minute, his sixth of the year. Walsh added the final goal in a similar fashion when George Moga (Sr., 5-10, Akron, OH/Springfield) passed the ball up from midfield to Juan Amaya (RS-Fr., 6-3, Uniontown, OH/Green), who sent the ball into the back of the net.

Mike Kelley (Jr., 6-0, Chagrin Falls, OH/NDCL) recorded his third shutout and is 3-1 on the year. He made one save on six shots faced. Overall, Walsh outshot Ashland 14-6.

The men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday as the Cavs host the Houghton Highlanders in AMC action. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
