Ashland University (3-3-1) handed Walsh (4-1) its first loss of the season, as they blanked the Cavs 2-0 at Milazzo Field today. The Eagles scored two first half goals, and then held the Cavs off in the final 45 minutes.
Kathleen Demaree scored on an assist from Megan Zealer, on a corner, 56 seconds into the game to give the Eagles the early lead. Zealer then scored an unassisted goal at the 28:28 mark as the Eagles lead 2-0 at the half. Ashland dominated both ends of the field in the first half, as they held the Cavs without a shot.
Walsh's Molly Martin (5-7, Jr., Canfield, OH/HS) has best opprotunity for the Cavs in the second half but could not convert inside the box. Ashland outshot the Cavs 15-7.
Walsh is home on Tuesday night at 7 pm to meet Seton Hill in the second of four straight home games.
