(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Jeremy Dietrich (So., 6-0, Parma, OH/Padua Franciscan) and Brent Townsend (Fr., 5-5, Hudson, OH/Walsh Jesuit) each scored a hat-trick in a 12-0 over visiting Fisher College on Friday. The Cavs improve to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the AMC. Fisher falls to 0-5. The 12-0 decision ties a school record for goals in one game and margin of victory, both set on October 7, 1989 against Ohio Dominican.
Dietrich scored the first goal of the game at 17:28 on an assist from Chad Dickerhoof (Jr., 6-0, Alliance, OH/Marlington) at 17:28 in the first half. Dietrich and Townsend equally split the next four goals to put Walsh up 5-0 at the break.
The second half mirrored the first with goals by Kain Melville (Fr., 6-2, South Shields, Newcastle, Eng./Gateshead), Christopher Froehlich (Fr., 6-0, Columbus, OH/St. Francis DeSales), Juan Amaya (R-Fr., 6-3, Uniontown, OH/Green), Michael Dudics (Fr., 5-10, Doylestown, OH/Chippewa), Jarod Weaver (Sr., 5-10, Tipp City, OH/Tippecanoe), and Townsend. Amaya scored two during the half.
Nate Rech (Sr., 6-0, Lordstown, OH/HS) and Brandon House (So., 5-9, Wadsworth, OH/HS) each played a half in goal. House made Walsh's only save of the game.
The Cavs return to action on Sunday as they host Daemen following the women's game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
