(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Lightning didn't deter the Cavaliers as they defeated Daemen 4-2 despite a delay in the first half Sunday afternoon. Walsh (7-1, 4-0) scored three goals to the Wildcats' (3-5) one to hold the advantage at the break.
Jordan Semple (Jr., 5-7, North Canton, OH/GlenOak) struck first for the Cavaliers with a goal off of a rebound in the 7th minute before lightning halted play for 45 minutes. Shortly after play resumed, Ben Truax (Sr., 6-1, Mansfield, OH/St. Peters) scored on an assist from Ben Latimer (Sr., 5-11, Sunbury, OH/Big Walnut) in the 9th minute. Daemen eventually scored on a goal by Zakariah Hall, but Walsh responded with another goal by Truax on a penalty kick five minutes later.
Daemen's Stephen Linderman scored on a free kick from just outside the far right corner of the box to cut the deficit to one again in the 68th minute. However, Walsh responded quickly with a goal by Chris Lynch (So., Bellbrook, OH/HS) on an assist from Truax in the goal box in the 70th minute to set up the 4-2 final.
Walsh will be off until Saturday when the Cavs travel to Cedarville for a non-conference match at 3 p.m.
