Visiting Daemen scored three goals in the first half to propel the Wildcats to a 4-2 win over Walsh Sunday afternoon. The Cavs (6-2, 2-1) made a strong comeback attempt with a pair of goals to make the game 3-2, but Daemen (7-2) put the game away with a goal in the 87th minute.
Lauren Jokovich (So., 5-4, Canton, OH/Jackson) put the Cavs on the board on a beautiful strike from just outside the far left corner of the box on an assist from Rachel Rucker (So., 5-5, Uniontown, OH/Lake) in the 67th minute. In the 83rd minute, Jokovich assisted Molly Martin (Jr., 5-7, Canfield, OH/HS) to cut the deficit to one. The comeback fell short, however, as Alexa Amato gave Daemen its fourth goal with a few minutes remaining. Jillian Zanney (Sr., 5-11, Brunswick, OH/HS) made five saves in goal.
Walsh returns to action this Saturday as they travel to take on Roberts Wesleyan in an AMC contest scheduled for 3 p.m.
