Cavs Defeat Ferris State 5-3; Play Hillsdale for 5th Place Sunday Morning

(MIDLAND, Mich.) - Fifth-seeded Walsh (13-5) defeated eighth-seeded Ferris State University (7-9) 5-3 in the second round of the GLIAC Championships played at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Michigan. The Cavs next opponent is sixth-seeded Hillsdale College on Sunday at 8:30 am, with the winner earning a fifth place tournament finish. The Cavs beat Hillsdale 6-3 on the road on October 11 in the regular season.

Sofya Logunova (Fr., Praha, Czech Republic/Russian Embassy School in Prague) and Alona Skobkina (Fr., Tarragona, Spain/Instituto Espan de Andorra) posted an 8-5 win at first doubles and Alisha Angle (Jr., Lexington, OH/HS) and Daria Bondareva (Fr., Sankt-Petersburg, Russia/HS) breezed to an 8-1 win at second doubles, as Walsh won two of three doubles matches.

Logunova then swept Ana Jan 6-0, 6-0 at first singles. Skobkina won 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) at fourth singles and Angle won 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles.
