Cavs Finish 5th at GLIAC Championships; Logunova Wins Deciding Set

(MIDLAND, Mich.) - Walsh (14-5) defeated Hillsdale College 5-4 to finish fifth at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Cavs were fifth seeded in the tournament. Hillsdale was the number six seed.

After dropping two out of three doubles matches, Walsh rallied to win four of six singles contests.

Daria Bondareva (Sankt-Petersburg, Russia/HS) won 6-2, 6-1 at second singles, Alona Skobkina (Tarragona, Spain/Instituto Espan de Andorra) won 6-3, 6-2 at fourth singles and Alisha Angle (Jr., Lexington, OH/HS) posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at fifth singles.

However, it was Sofya Logunova's (Praha, Czech Republic/Russian Embassy School in Prague) come-from-behind win at number one singles that decided the match. The freshman rallied to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Angle and Bondareva were also victorious at number two doubles 8-4.
