Box Score 2 (BELMONT, N.C.) - Walsh (3-4) split their final two matches at the Belmont Abbey Tournament today. After falling to Arkansas Tech in four sets, Walsh bounced back to sweep Claflin University. The Cavs now begin a five-match GLIAC homestand with Tiffin University next Friday night (7 pm), and Ohio Dominican University on Saturday (2 pm).
Arkansas Tech defeated Walsh by set scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-14 and 25-14. Paige Chandler (6-0, Sr., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) led the Cavs with 11 kills and 15 digs. Kelsey Snider (5-10, So., Olmsted Falls, OH/HS) added 10 and Krissy Sokol (5-9, Sr., Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) had 9 kills and 10 digs.
Walsh then regrouped and swept Chaflin by set scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-12. The Cavs balanced attack was led by Haley Howell's (5-11, Fr., Clarkston, MI/Our Lady of the Lakes) game-high 29 assists. Chandler and Sokol each had 9 kills, and Snider had 7. Chandler and Snider each had 6 digs each, and Janelle Yunker (6-0, So., Marysville, OH/HS) was strong upfront with six blocks. Chandler also had six aces.
