(North Canton, Ohio) - Walsh (0-1, 0-1) dropped its GLIAC and season opener, 9-0, to visiting Northwood University (2-0, 2-0) at the Klekotka Tennis Complex this afternoon. The Cavs continue their three-match weekend with GLIAC foes Grand Valley State University on Saturday (10 am) and Ferris State University on Sunday (10 am).

Northwood won the GLIAC regular season and tournament championships last season.

The Cavs were competitive throughout, with Sofya Logunova (Fr., Praha, Czech Republic) and Alona Skobkina (Fr., Tarragoan, Spain) battling before falling 8-6 at second doubles. Alisha Angle (Jr., Lexington, OH/HS) lost 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at fourth singles and Daria Bondareva (Fr., Sankt-Petersburg, Russia) played well at second singles before falling 6-4, 6-4.
