Early Goals Doom Cavs in Northwood

Box Score

(MIDLAND, Mich.) – Early goals near the beginning of both halves doomed Walsh in its first game against Northwood this season. History repeated itself as the Timberwolves (7-2-1, 5-2-1) scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the game and another in the first three minutes of the second half in route to a 5-0 win over the Cavaliers (4-6, 2-6) at Dean Field.

Adam Thomas struck first for Northwood with a goal on an assist from Jack Smith in the eighth minute. That score quickly went to 2-0 on a goal by Keaton Levock on an assist from Gino Pasquali 61 seconds later and remained there for the rest of the half.

Shortly after the start of the second half, the Timberwolves went up 3-0. This time it was Thomas and Pasquali pairing up as Thomas got his second goal of the game. Northwood eventually made it 5-0 after goals in the 62nd and 64th minutes.

The Cavs had difficulties on the offensive end as they managed only five shots with one on target. Northwood took 18 with nine on target.

The Cavaliers will face another tough opponent in No. 2 Saginaw Valley State on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
