(MIDLAND, Mich.) After capturing their first win of the season on Friday night, Walsh lost a heartbreaker in four sets at Northwood University (6-9, 3-8) by scores of 25-17, 22-25, 21-25 and 24-26 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. The Cavs are idle until next weekend, when they compete in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Illinois.

Hitting percentages were a key in the match, as Walsh posted a .333 mark in the first set in winning 25-17. After the first set, the Cavs would not post a percentage higher than .152.

After dropping back-to-back sets by scores of 22-25 and 21-25, the Cavs jumped to early leads in the fourth set. In a set that featured six ties, Walsh held its last lead at 19-16. The Cavs trailed 24-23 when they knotted the set on a Devin Hummel kill. But back-to-back attack errors gave the set and match to the Timberwolves.

Kelsey Snider led Walsh with nine kills to go with 14 digs. Liza Pflugradt added eight kills and three blocks. Katy Frease had seven kills, and Gina Kramer, Kelly Miller and Hummel each had six kills. Miller had five blocks and a .267 attack percentage and Hummel added 10 digs.

Haley Howell handed out a match-high 26 assists and Kaitlin Bronikowski recorded a match-best 23 digs.
