Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – In what has started to become a trend, Walsh once again needed extra time as it took No. 20 Saginaw Valley to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon. It was the sixth game that the Cavaliers (7-2-4, 4-1-3) have forced into overtime. They are 1-1-4 in those games. This was the third overtime game for the Cardinals (8-1-3, 6-1-2).
This game featured a pair of teams that were both ranked in the Midwest Region as Saginaw Valley is No. 3 while Walsh is No. 9.
Despite the game being scoreless, both squads had excellent chances to score. Kristen Conti had a breakaway opportunity midway through the first half, but as she advanced towards the goal, she had a touch that was a little too hard and by the time she was able to take a shot, the Cardinals' keeper was able to make a point blank save.
On the opposite end, Saginaw Valley managed nine shots on target, but Shambaugh stopped them all to record her fourth shutout of the season. She now leads the conference in goals against, goals against average, and save percentage.
The Cavs will now go on the road for their next two contests. First up will be a trip to Columbus as Walsh takes on Ohio Dominican on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
