Early Score Not Enough As Ashland Flies By Cavs

(ASHLAND, Ohio) – Despite an early goal in the first few minutes of the game, Walsh wasn't able to hold on as Ashland came from behind to win 2-1. The Cavaliers, who are fighting for a playoffs spot in the GLIAC tournament, are now 7-4-4 overall and 4-3-3 in the conference. The Eagles improve to 9-6 overall and are an even 5-5 in the GLIAC.

Emily Durina provided the first score of the game as she chipped one over the Ashland keeper from 10 yards away to give Walsh the quick lead just 3:13 after the start. Ashland was quick to respond as Morgan Bittengle scored just over eight minutes later off of a rebound for her 10th goal of the year. Alexandra Kovarik then provided the go-ahead goal on Kelsey Dropsey's assist in the 32nd minute. Ashland held on the rest of the way for the win.

Dani Shambaugh dropped to 5-2-3 on the season as she played the full 90. She made four saves on 18 shots faced.

Walsh returns home for Senior Night this Thursday as the Cavs host Tiffin. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
