(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – It was a memorable day for the Walsh women's soccer program as it clinched a GLIAC tournament berth with a 3-0 win over Tiffin. It's the first GLIAC postseason bid for the Cavaliers (8-4-4, 5-3-3), who have competed in the conference for three years.

The game featured an offensive outburst by Kristen Conti as she recorded the hat trick with all three goals for the Cavaliers. The first came in the 21st minute when she received a pass from Amy Gilmore at the top of the box and lobbed the ball from the right side over the Dragons' (2-15, 1-10) goalkeeper who came out to play the ball.

The second and third goals came in almost identical fashion. Jessie Gearhart was able to take the ball down the left side before she centered it to Conti who was just a few yards in front of the goal. Conti was then able to get a touch on it and flick it inside the near post in the 50th minute. The same play was set up just 29 seconds later, this time by Emily Durina, as Conti was able to place it in the middle of the net.

Conti now has 11 goals on the year, tops on the team and third-most in the GLIAC.

Not to be lost in the offensive show was another strong show in goal by Dani Shambaugh. She recorded her fifth shutout of the season and made seven saves on 10 shots faced.

The Cavs will now set their attention to No. 10 Grand Valley State for their game on Saturday. The Lakers are 14-2-1 overall and 9-1-1 in the conference. Both teams have a lot to play for as Walsh is battling for playoff positioning and Grand Valley is playing for a share of the conference championship. Kickoff in Allendale, Mich., is set for 2 p.m.
