Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh men's soccer team lost another tough battle to Northwood by a score of 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Milazzo Field. The Cavaliers are now 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the GLIAC. The Timberwolves remain unbeaten at 4-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference.
Northwood started the scoring and did so early in the match as Gino Pasquali put one into the back of the net on a one-on-one opportunity thanks to an assist by Adam Thomas.
It didn't take long for Walsh to answer as Simon Miller scored his first goal of his collegiate career on a set play. Adam Gonia recorded the assist as a result of a long throw-in from the left side. Miller was able to control the ball in the middle of traffic and sneak the ball through the middle to the back of the net.
The score remained 1-1 through the first half, but the Timberwolves scored the go-ahead goal quickly after the break. With the ball played deep into the Walsh zone, James Decosemo was able to redirect a hard shot by Pasquali that deflected the ball to the left side of the net. It was all Northwood needed the rest of the way as its defense put the Cavs on lockdown.
Overall, Walsh was on the defensive end for most of the game as Northwood held a 16-7 advantage on shots.
Walsh will hit the road next weekend for its two conference games. The Cavs will be in Columbus to take on Ohio Dominican on Friday before heading to Painesville to battle Lake Erie on Sunday.
