(CANTON, Ohio) Despite valiant efforts from Gina Kramer and Kelsey Snider, Malone (3-7, 1-4) kept Walsh (0-9, 0-5) from breaking into the win column by defeating the Cavs in four sets by the scores of 25-17, 19-25, 23-25 and 17-25 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at Osborne Hall. Walsh plays its first home match of the season on Friday night, when they meet Ferris State University at Alumni Arena at 7 pm.

Walsh won the first set, which was tight through out. Walsh led 16-15, but closed the match with a 9-4 run to go up 1-0.

In the second set, Malone snapped a 7-7 deadlock and never looked back in winning 25-19.

With the pivotal third set tied at 5-5, Malone took control and led 21-12 when Walsh came to life. Behind Kramer and Snider, Walsh rallied and trimmed the Malone lead to 24-23. Kramer had five kills and Snider three kills during the Cavs 11-3 run. Malone's Anny Hays then put the ball down to give Malone the set and a 2-1 advantage.

Walsh jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the fourth set, but could not sustain the momentum. Walsh held their last lead at 13-12, and the game was tied for the last time at 15-all. Malone would rebound and outscore the Cavs 10-2 to seal the win.

Kramer led Walsh with 14 kills and posted a .265 attack percentage. Snider had a double-double with 10 kills and was all over the floor with 25 digs. Kelly Miller added eight kills, with an outstanding .444 attack percentage. Liza Pflugradt posted seven kills, Haley Howell handed out a match-best 29 assists and Kaitlin Bronikowski had 23 digs.
