(DETROIT) - It was a tough trip to the Motor City for the women's basketball team as Walsh fell to No. 10 Wayne State 97-87 Saturday afternoon. The Warriors (16-2, 12-2) jumped out to a 51-36 lead by halftime and led by as many as 22 against the Cavaliers (14-6, 8-6).

Wayne State made over half of its shot from the field with a 53.5 percent-clip on 38 makes in 71 attempts. Walsh was also decent on the floor, but shot 10 percent lower as it made 29-of-67 attempts.

The Cavaliers were able to battle close for the first 10 minutes of the game before Wayne State started to create some separation for the 15-point lead at the break. The Warriors largest lead came at 67-45 after a Shannon Wilson 3-pointer with 13:09 left in the game. 

The Warriors' offense was well-rounded as six players, including four starters, scored in double-figures. Shareta Brown led the group with 17 points on 8-of-10 from the field.

The Cavs had four players in double-figures and were led by Brooklyn Wooten (5-8, So., Grove City, OH/Central Crossing) with a game-high 24 points. She made 9-of-16 from the field with three 3-pointers and seven rebounds. Kelsey Funderburgh (5-7, Jr., North Lewisburg, OH/Triad) added 16 points. Both Audrey Badovick (5-5, Sr., Norwalk, OH/St. Paul) and Alex Hochstedler (5-9, Fr., Fishers, IN/HS) scored 11 with each hitting a trio of 3-pointers. Jalynn Graham (5-5, So., Columbus, OH/Central Crossing) was a point and rebound away from another double-double.

Walsh won't have the usual time to regroup as it gears up for the first big rivalry game against Malone. The Cavs and Pioneers will do battle on Monday with tip-off set for 6 p.m.
