(DETROIT) - Not much went right for Walsh as it fell to Wayne State by a score of 77-60 in GLIAC action on Saturday afternoon. It was the first loss against South Division competition for the Cavaliers (10-8, 6-8), while the Warriors (3-14, 3-11) broke a nine-game losing streak.

The Cavs never held the lead in the game and were only tied once with the Warriors. Wayne State led by as many as 23 late before Zac Carter (5-9, So., Ironton, OH/HS) hit a pair of 3-pointers to close the game and set up the final score.

Wayne State was red-hot from the floor as it hit a blistering 57.1 percent of its shots on 32-of-56 from the field. The Warriors were very effective inside as they outscored the Cavs 36-26 inside the paint.

Three Cavaliers scored in double figures as Trey Fletcher (6-6, So., Ironton, OH/HS), Jesse Hardin Jr. (6-2, Jr., Warren, OH/Harding), and Carter all scored 15 points each. Hardin Jr. was a rebound shy of a double-double.

Four Warriors scored in double figures. Michael Lewis paced Wayne State with 18 points. Chuck Key added 16 off the bench and was 8-of-10 from the field.

Walsh won't have much time to regroup as it gets ready for rival Malone on Monday. Tip-off with the Pioneers is set for 8 p.m. after the women's game. The game will be broadcast on 95.9 FM WNPQ.
