Cavs Suffers Defeat to Northern Michigan

Box Score

(MARQUETTE, Mich.) – The Walsh volleyball team continues to look for its first conference win after it was handed a 3-0 loss by Northern Michigan Saturday at Vandament Arena. The Cavaliers (4-13, 0-9) almost forced a fourth set after losing the first two sets 25-17 and 25-22, but the Wildcats (12-6, 4-6) were able to stave off that attempt with a 28-26 win in the third.

The Cavs offense was better today as Gina Kramer led the team with 11 kills, but the Wildcats' attack was also strong with three players in double figures with kills. Madison Whitehead led with a game-high 16 kills.

The Walsh defense remained strong as it combined for nine blocks for the second time in as many days. Katy Frease led in that category with one solo block and four block assists. Kaitlin Bronikowski was among the game leaders in digs with 19.

The Cavaliers now set their sets on the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover in Chicago next weekend. Opponents and times have yet to be announced.
