Logunova, Bondareva Go Unbeaten, But Cavs Fall To Ferris State

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh couldn't pull out a victory in its final home contest of the fall season as Ferris State won 6-3 on a sunny Sunday morning at the Klekotka Tennis Complex. The Cavaliers fall to 3-7 both overall and in the GLIAC while the Bulldogs are 7-3 in the same categories.

The Bulldogs had the early advantage after they won two of three doubles matches. The lone point for the Cavs came from the talented No. 1 doubles team of Sofya Logunova and Daria Bondareva. They won their third-straight match by a count of 8-6.

Both carried the momentum into singles play to account for Walsh's other two points. Bondareva defeated the Bulldogs' Nika Hein 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Logunova needed a bit more time but followed up with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 1 singles.

Arina Kravitz almost gave the Cavs a fourth point by winning the second set of her match 6-2 after a 6-3 loss in the opening set, but lost a tiebreaker 10-2 against Ferris State's Arien Kissinger.

Walsh will close out the GLIAC schedule against Ashland this Saturday at 10 a.m. It is the final dual match before the GLIAC tournament in Midland, Mich., later this month.
