(AURORA, Ill.) – For the second time in as many days, Walsh won a five-set match against a GLVC team in the eighth annual Mizuno Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover. This time the Cavaliers (6-13) defeated the GLVC's No. 13 seed Illinois-Springfield (5-16) by scores of 25-20, 27-29, 15-25, 25-19, 16-14.

The two wins guarantees that Walsh will finish with its best-ever record in the event as it went 1-2 in 2012 followed by a pair of winless outings in 2013 and 2014.

Gina Kramer led a balanced attack with 12 kills in the morning match. She was the only player in double-digits, but the Cavs did have five other players with at least eight kills.

With the fifth game tied up, the Cavaliers gave the GLIAC another win with an ace by Madison Music and a kill by Janelle Yunker set up by Music.

Following the match with UIS, Walsh was one of four GLIAC teams with two wins along with Ferris State, Ohio Dominican, and Northern Michigan.

In the final match of the event for Walsh, the Cavs couldn't keep the momentum going as they fell to Quincy in three sets 25-20, 25-16, 25-18.

Kramer added 11 kills on 27 attempts, but the rest of the offense struggled and combined to hit .058.

Katy Frease had a big match defensively as she blocked six attacks, two of which were solo.

Overall, the GLIAC finished 24-24 in its matches. The GLVC took home the crown again with a 28-20 mark. The G-MAC went 2-10 in its first apperance in the crossover.

The Cavaliers return home for a pair of conference matches next week. First up is Lake Superior State on Friday with a start time of 7 p.m.
