Cavs Swept By Cardinals In Volleyball Action

(UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.) – The Walsh volleyball team couldn't snag its first conference win as it fell to Saginaw Valley in three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-19. The Cavaliers are now 4-10 on the season and 0-6 in the conference. The Cardinals improved to 12-2 overall and 4-2 in the GLIAC.

A steady offensive attack helped Saginaw Valley as it spread the ball around as seven players recorded at least four kills. Kaylee Schmitt led the way for the hosts with 11 as the Cardinals hit 27.3 percent.

The Cavaliers were led by Paolo Ferrario who had seven kills on 21 attempts. Kelsey Snider added five kills on nine attempts for a 44.4 percent success rate. Defensively Kaitlin Bronikowski dug up 14 balls with Snider right behind her at 10. Haley Howell added 12 assists.

The Cavaliers return to action tomorrow with a date in the Motor City against Wayne State. Walsh will do battle with the Warriors starting at 2 p.m.
