Women's Tennis Falls to Northwood

(CANTON, Ohio) – In Walsh's return to dual action, it ran into a talented Northwood squad and fell by a score of 8-1 at the Hall of Fame Courts after the match was moved indoors because of rain. The Cavaliers are now 3-4 both overall and in the conference. The Timberwolves improved to 7-1 in the same categories.

The lone Cavaliers' point came in a tightly contested No. 1 singles match. Sofya Logunova battled Carol Arnez-Mercado to a 5-5 tie in the first set before Arnez-Mercado retired.

Daria Bondareva battled in the No. 2 singles match with a 6-4 loss in the first set, but was unable to pick up any momentum and lost the second set 6-2.

The Cavaliers return to action tomorrow morning against Saginaw Valley State. As of this writing, it is still scheduled to be played at the Klekotka Tennis Complex at 10 a.m. If it is moved indoors, it will be played at the Hall of Fame Courts in Canton with an 8 a.m. start.
