(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Walsh got back into the win column with a shutout of hosting Lake Erie at the Osborne Center on Halloween. The Cavaliers (9-16, 2-11) defense improved as the match went on as they took the three games by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-18 over the Storm (6-17, 1-12).

The Storm took the Cavs to the wire in the opening set and was tied at 22-all, but three-straight points for Walsh thanks to kills by Devin Humel and Janelle Yunker gave the Maroon and Gold an early lead.

In the middle set, Walsh jumped out to a 21-12 lead before Lake Erie attempted a late rally, but another Yunker kill ended that possibility and put Walsh up 2-0. The third set was close for the first 20 points as Walsh held an 11-9 lead, but the Cavs eventually separated themselves from Lake Erie with four of the final five points to take the sweep.

Paolo Ferrario had a solid day with 10 kills on 27 attempts for a .259 percentage. Kelsey Snider and Liza Pflugradt added eight kills each. Defensivley Katy Frease had a huge game up front as she thwarted the Storm attack with four solo blocks. She added five kills on the offensive end.

Kaitlin Bronikowski once again led the team in digs with 19 while Olivia Zanolli paced the team in assists with 22 as Erica Schiets wasn't too far behind with 20.

With October complete, the Cavs look to turn the page to November. First up on the schedule is a date with rival Malone on Tuesday. The Cavs will attempt to avenge a loss to the Pioneers earlier in the season at Osborne Hall with a start time of 7 p.m.
