Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh couldn't pull off the upset on Senior Day as the Cavaliers fought hard but lost in three sets to visiting Hillsdale Saturday afternoon. The Cavs (10-18, 3-13) concluded the home portion of the schedule against the Chargers (20-6, 12-4) who won in straight sets 25-23, 25-12, 25-21.
The Cavaliers battled neck-and-neck for the opening game and led 22-21 late, but Hillsdale recovered to score four of the last five points to take the first win. The second set was dominated by Hillsdale as the Chargers started the match on a 13-2 run en route to the 2-0 lead.
In the final set, Walsh held a 14-10 lead after a kill by Kelsey Snider and remained ahead until 19-18 with a Devin Hummel kill. Hillsdale then scored the next three points in a run where the Chargers scored six of the final eight points to take the match.
Janelle Yunker had an impressive day attacking as she tallied seven kills on 11 attempts for an attack percentage of .545. Snider and Liza Pflugradt added six kills each for Walsh. Kaitlin Bronikowski totaled 14 digs on the day and Olivia Zanolli led the team with 13 assists.
Walsh will close out the season next week on the road with matches at Ohio Dominican on Friday and Tiffin on Saturday.
