Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – In a battle of teams unbeaten in the early conference season, Walsh fell to visiting Lake Superior State by a score of 67-46 Saturday afternoon. The loss snapped a four-game win streak by the Cavaliers (4-3, 3-1) while the Lakers (7-1, 4-0) kept theirs, now at five games, intact.
Walsh's offense had a tough time getting anything started as it faced a suffocating Lake State defense that prevented the Cavaliers from going inside the lane. Only eight Cavs' points came in the paint as a result.
In the meantime, Lake Superior State used its height to take advantage inside with 34 points in the paint. The Lakers were led by a 25-point performance from Devin Daly as he hit 10-of-19 from the field. He added 10 rebounds for the double-double.
The Cavaliers were led by Trey Fletcher with 13 points. Chall Montgomery added a double-double of his with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Jesse Hardin Jr. also added 10 in the loss.
The Cavaliers will attempt to rebound in a non-conference regional battle this Wednesday as they welcome Cedarville for the final game before the Christmas break. Walsh tips-off with its former and future conference rival at 7 p.m.
