First Have Carries Cavs To Blowout Of Lake Erie

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – A strong first half propelled Walsh to a big 74-44 win over visiting Lake Erie Saturday afternoon in GLIAC South Division action. The Cavaliers (15-8, 9-8) shot 50 percent, 16-of-32, in the opening 20 minutes. On the opposite end, the Storm (9-14, 4-13) was also cold as it shot just 27.7 percent for the game as it was 18-of-65 from the field for the game.

After a Lake Erie basket tied the game at 14-14 with 13:14 to play, Walsh went on a 25-6 run to close out the half. Rachael Trujillo (5-8, Jr., Cleveland, OH/Westlake) sparked the offensive outburst with a 3-pointer and was followed up by a trey from Audrey Badovick (5-5, Sr., Norwalk, OH/St. Paul).

Badovick put on an impressive show during that first half as she scored all of her game-high 14 points during that time. She made 5-of-7 overall from the field and was 4-of-5 from behind the arc in the opening half.

Jalynn Graham (5-5, So., Columbus, OH/Central Crossing) and Brooklyn Wooten (5-8, So., Grove City, OH/Central Crossing) also scored in double figures as each player scored 13 points. Wooten was 5-of-9 from the floor with three 3-pointers. She also spread the ball around with four assists. Graham added a pair of treys and had three assists and two steals.

Whitney Dabbelt (Sr., 6-0, West Carrollton, OH/Archbishop Alter) was also strong down low as she was a point shy of a double-double with 11 rebounds. Holly Grober (5-11, Fr., Hermitage, PA/Hickory) was also strong on the glass with 10 rebounds.

Walsh hit 12 3-pointers total in the game. Six different players were successful in shots behind the arc.

Walsh will return to the court against Ohio Dominican on Thursday. Tip-off with the Panthers is set for 5:30 p.m. It is also Beach and Jersey Roar Night. Student-athletes are encouraged to wear team jerseys or warm-ups. All fans are encouraged to wear beach attire.
