(CANTON, Ohio) Walsh improved to 9-14 on the season after blanking Edinboro University 9-0 at the Hall of Courts today. The loss dropped Edinboro to 4-5.
The Cavs got off on the right foot by sweeping doubles action. Anastasiya Dasik (So., Kiev, Ukraine / School N 40) and Alona Skobkina (So., Tarragona, Spain / Instituto Espan de Andorra) won 8-5 at first doubles. Daria Bondareva (So., Sankt Petersburg, Russia / Sankt Petersburg) and Sofya Logunova (So., Prague, Czech Republic / Russian Embassy School) won 8-0 at second doubles and Alisha Angle (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) and Asia Harris (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH / CVCA) posted an 8-5 win at third doubles.
Walsh won every set in singles play. Logunova won 6-4, 6-1 at first singles. Bondareva was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at second singles. Skobkina won 6-2, 6-2 at third singles. Harris breezed at fourth singles winning 6-0, 6-0, as did Angle at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-1, and Arina Kravitz (Jr., Youngstown, OH / Boardman) won 6-0, 7-6 at sixth singles.
