Cavs Win 6-3 at West Virginia State

(INSTITUTE, West Virginia) Walsh improved to 11-15 with a 6-3 non-conference win at West Virginia State today. The Cavs have won three of their last four matches. They close the regular season on April 14 at Wright State University.

Walsh opened the match with wins in two of three doubles matches. Daria Bondareva (So., Sankt Petersburg, Russia / Sankt Petersburg) and Sofya Logunova (So., Prague, Czech Republic / Russian Embassy School) won 8-2 at second doubles and Alisha Angle (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) and Asia Harris (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH / CVCA) posted an 8-2 win at third doubles. Bondareva and Logunova are 5-0 at second doubles.

On the singles side, Logunova improved to 16-10 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at first singles. She has won her last five matches. Bondareva won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles, and is 18-9 on the year with five straight wins. Alona Skobkina (So., Tarragona, Spain / Instituto Espan de Andorra) won 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 at third singles, and Angle improved to 21-8 on the season with a 6-3, 6-0 win at fifth singles.
