Box Score 2 (Urbana, Ohio) - After defeating St. Joseph (IN) in three sets to reach the .500 mark (3-3) for the first time since 2013, the Cavs were bested by Urbana University in five sets to fall to 3-4 in their final game at the Urbana Invitational. Walsh looks to even their record at Ursuline College on Tuesday night (7pm)
The Cavs erased deficits in the last two sets to sweep St. Joseph by set scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-23. Gina Kramer (So., Maria Stein, OH / Marion Local) led Walsh with 11 kills. Janelle Yunker (Sr., Marysville, OH / Marysville) and Katy Frease (Jr., Massillon, OH / Perry) each had eight kills. Olivia Zanolli (Fr., North Canton, OH / Jackson) handed out 19 assists, and Haley Howell (Jr., Clarkston, MI / Our Lady of the Lakes) handed out 13 assists and had 11 digs. Madison Music (So., North Fairfield, OH / Willard) also had 11 digs and Kaitlin Bronikowski (Jr., Toledo, OH / Central Catholic) had 10 digs.
The Urbana match was a five-set thriller. After falling 25-19 in the first set, Walsh evened things up with a 25-14 second set win. Urbana took the lead with 25-23 third set win, but Walsh came back to even the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set. The fifth set was tight, with Urbana pulling away at 8-7 to score seven of the last ten points in a 15-10 win. Kelsey Snider (Sr., Olmsted Falls, OH / HS) led Walsh with 14 kills to go with 10 digs. Frease, Kramer and Yunker each had nine kills. Zanolli handed out 27 assists to go with 16 digs. Howell dished out 17 assists and Bronikowski had 18 digs.
