(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – A slow third set doomed Walsh in an otherwise competitive match with Tiffin in the conference openers for both teams. The Cavaliers (4-5, 0-1) ultimately fell to the Dragons (3-3, 1-0) by scores of 27-25, 22-25, 25-15, and 25-21 Friday evening in Alumni Arena. It was the conference opener for both teams.

The Cavs rebounded nicely after they dropped the first set to come back and win the second despite trailing 21-19 late. Walsh rallied to tie the game at 21-21 and scored the final four points after Tiffin scored to take a 22-21 lead.

The third set belonged to Tiffin, however, as they went on a six-point run to go up 13-6 en route to the 10 point win. Walsh led by six points in the fourth set at 11-5, but Tiffin was able to rally again with eight of the next nine points scored.

Gina Kramer (So., Maria Stein, Ohio/Marion Local) once again led the Cavs' attack with 14 kills on 32 attempts. Liza Pflugradt (Jr., Lake Zurich, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) also had double-digits in kills with 12. Defensively Kaitlin Bronikowski (Jr., Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) led the team with 13 digs. Olivia Zanolli (Fr., North Canton, Ohio/Jackson) led the team with 26 assists and was followed by Haley Howell (Jr., Clarkston, Mich./Our Lady of the Lakes) with 15.

Walsh will return to action tomorrow as they take on Ohio Dominican. The match is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start at Alumni Arena.
